Jimmy Ning was born September 28, 1936 in Shanghai, china. His childhood years were spent in China all through WWII. He left in1948 when the Communists took over and relocated to Bangkok, Thailand in late 1949. For the next two years, he attended an English School, operated by the 7th Day Adventist Church. His families were involved with the Presbyterian Church and through the church they discovered Warren Wilson College in Asheville, North Carolina. In the beginning of 1952, he came to WWC and for the next five years, went through three years of high school and two years of Jr. college graduating in 1956.
He came to Menaul School in August of 1956 as an university student monitor while attending UNM majoring in Art. My brother Mike came with me in 1956 and attended Menaul and graduated in 1958. He received my BFA in Commercial Art from University of New Mexico in 1959. He also had a double major of Theatre, was involved heavily with the University and community theatre. Mr. Ning is honored to be asked to join the Menaul School Board of Directors.
