Middle Math Teacher
This is Ana's first year teaching at Menual School and she couldn't be more enthusiastic about the opportunity to work in such a supportive and productive environment.
Originally from Sao Paulo, Brazil, Ana moved to Boston to pursue an undergraduate degree in Economics. She then moved to Berlin, Germany, where she worked as a translator for a science and educational textbook company before accepting a position as an educational researcher for UNICEF in the Brazilian Rain Forest.
There Ana helped develop programs for indigenous school systems, worked with local teachers and administrators and discovered her love of teaching. This led to a position teaching math and SAT prep at the Discovery School, an international school in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, with students from over twenty countries.
At this point Ana was hooked on teaching and decided to continue to focus her career on education, moving to Iowa to pursue a graduate degree. Her research on the role of language in math education won the Hudson Human Social Sciences Award.
Happily relocating to the sunshine and warmth of Albuquerque, Ana taught at a local charter high school and discovered the joys of desert gardening, breakfast burritos, green chili, the Bosque bike path and the Menaul School, where her son Leon is a very happy and comfortable student.
