Social Studies Chair
Susan was raised on a small dairy farm in central Maine, moving to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1967. She attended APS Schools Jackson Junior High, Manzano and graduated in 1971 from Valley High School. Young attended New Mexico Highlands University, and then worked for local newspapers and cable television companies for some 20 years working in advertising, customer service, and ending as a vice-president of BCI Communications. Returning to UNM to attain a longed-planned for teaching degree, she graduated in 1993 from UNM with a BE in Social Studies/US History. Sue has taught at Menaul School for 18 years, serving as a Social Studies Chair, Yearbook Teacher, SOC Leader, Student Council Advisor, and teaching Social Studies to 6th -12th grade students. Susan feels very fortunate that her long-time family passion for United States and New Mexico History, travel, outdoor activity, and gardening has combined with her deep affection for the Menaul School.
