MENAUL SCHOOL seeks international students in the 6th through 12th grade who have strong academic potential and are eager to learn.  Each student must desire to be a part of a multi-cultural community where participation, compassion, honesty, and academic achievement are a part of everyday life.

Application Deadline and Fee
Applications accepted throughout the spring and summer based on grade availability. The non-refundable application fee is $100. 

English Assessment
The Menaul School ESL Assessment including ESL Teacher Evaluation is required OR submit a copy of TOEFL English Assessment.

English Competency Levels for International Students
International students are required to have a minimum level of English to be admitted to Menaul School.  Once admitted, international students are placed in either one of two levels of English as a Second Language (ESL) classes (ESL I and ESL II) to improve their proficiency.  Menaul School accepts the Test Of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) to evaluate English language proficiency and for appropriate placement in ESL classes.  The following guidelines are used:

ESL II Placement 55-70
Regular English 70

 

Our goal is to have all international students to place out of ESL  by the end of their junior year to allow them to participate in regular English classes their senior year to prepare them for their college studies.  Students must have a TOEFL score of  80 to place out of ESL classes.

Admission Testing
Although not the primary indicator for acceptance, all applicants are required to take an admission test. Students are evaluated in four areas: Vocabulary, Reading Comprehension, Math, and Writing. Admission tests are administered from 8:45 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on scheduled testing days or can be arranged individually for international students.  OR submit a copy of SSAT.

Teacher Recommendations
Recommendation forms are required from your child’s current English and math teachers. Teachers are asked to mail their completed recommendation to the Admission Office no later than February 1, 2013. All recommendations are confidential. Recommendations will not be accepted if delivered by parents or applicants.

Tuition & Fees for International Day Students | 2013-2014

Tuition  $14,200
The tuition covers the cost of academic instruction, the use of textbooks and room and board. Other fees may be incurred for laboratory courses, standardized tests, and extra curricular sports equipment.   Click here for a printable Domestic Day Tuition & Fee Schedule for 2012-2013.

International Administrative Fee  $2,500
The International Administrative fee covers the processing and maintenance of all international documents and mailings.

Registration Fee $500
All students, new and returning, are required to pay a non-refundable registration fee. For newly accepted students, this fee is due upon enrollment. For returning students, this fee is due upon re-enrollment. This fee provides for part of the costs of recruitment, student insurance, administrative costs, and processing and set-up charges. The registration fee is not part of the basic tuition.

Technology Fee  $200
This fee provides for the lease of an iPad, Apple Care insurance, and iPad applications for the school year. After 2 years the student will own the iPad.

Activity Fee $400
The activity fee provides your student with a Menaul School yearbook, student entrance to regular season, Menaul sponsored athletic events, and transportation for most field trips.

English as a Second Language (ESL) Fee  $1,000
English as a Second Language classes emphasize applied English language concepts with emphasis on improving listening, speaking, reading and writing through discussion and practical application.  Two levels of ESL classes are offered along with a Saturday TOEFL prep class.  This fee is waived once a student accomplishes a 75 TOEFL score.

TORRP (Tuition Obligation Relief/Reimbursement Plan) $300
The TORRP fee provides the parent/guardian with discounted, pro-rated tuition reimbursement should the student be withdrawn (student withdrawal) from school during the period of the contract. The TORRP fee is non-refundable and is mandatory for all students with a payment plan

Sibling Discount 10% of tuition
A sibling discount in the amount of 10% will be awarded to full-pay families for each enrolled child after the first.

Uniforms
Students are required to wear a uniform that consists of a red or white polo shirt with an embroidered Menaul School logo and khaki pants, shorts or skirts.  Uniforms are purchased through our independent vendor, Roadrunner Custom Apparel and prices vary. 

Lunch Program
Together with talented Chef Assistants, Laurie Stewart, the Food Services Director, provide our community with food choices that are both tasty and healthy.  Hot entrees are the mainstay of the daily food line and are complimented with choices of quality vegetables, sandwiches, soups and salads.   Whole fresh fruits and healthy drink options are also available.  Prices vary depending upon the student’s food selection.  Students may also opt to bring lunch from home.
