Menaul School Teach-Intern Program

Menaul School is seeking recent college graduates or graduate students interested in working under supervision to develop the varied skills required of secondary boarding school teachers.

The Menaul School Teach-Intern Program offers as wide an exposure as possible to all aspects of life at Menaul School.  Interns will have the opportunity to participate in mission-critical projects at an urban, international boarding school in the Southwest while serving on the front lines as they participate in the unique and exciting work of fostering students from across the globe. 

The Intern’s responsibilities will include supervised teaching under the guidance of an experienced member of the faculty and assisting with or observation of other classes.  Interns also help coach athletics, assist in dormitory supervision and activities and participate in other areas of school life commensurate with their interests and talents.

Menaul School is a 6-12 independent, co-educational school whose mission is to prepare students to succeed in mind, body and spirit with historical connections to the Presbyterian Church. Menaul School operates an upper school and a middle school on a fully functional 30-acre campus near downtown Albuquerque, NM that includes classroom buildings, an auditorium, arts facilities, and gymnasiums. In addition, the school employs a dedicated and talented middle school teaching staff and is in the second year of an innovative iPad program.

Teach-Intern appointments are ten month (August to June) positions.  Interns receive a monthly stipend along with living quarters and meals in the school cafeteria.  Teaching areas open to interns are the Sciences, English, History, Religion & Mathematics.

Middle School Science Teacher

Menaul School is seeking a qualified and energetic Middle School Science Teacher. The successful candidate will join our faculty in August 2014 and will teach 7th grade life science, 8th grade physical science, and possibly one upper school class in biology, chemistry, or physics.

Requirements for the position:

  • An advanced degree in science
  • Two years’ teaching experience
  • Willingness to work as a team member with a collaborative faculty
  • Willingness to participate with students as a club sponsor or athletic coach

Preferred qualifications:

  • Facility with an iPad or similar digital device
  • Experience in 21st century-style educational projects
  • Five to eight years’ teaching experience
  • Experience working in an independent school

Upper School Science and Math Teacher

Menaul School is seeking a qualified and energetic Upper School Science and Mathematics Teacher. The successful candidate will join our faculty in August 2014 and will teach five sections of courses from the following list:

Biology
Physics
Calculus
Advanced Chemistry

  • Two years’ teaching experience
  • Eagerness to work with adolescents as a teacher and advisor

Middle School Director

Menaul School in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is seeking an experienced Middle School Director who will oversee the expansion of the current middle school and the reshaping of its mission and structure for the fall of 2015. The general nature of this future middle school will be based on a holistic, values-oriented, project-based, and student-centered foundation, including expanded health, physical education, and arts components.

During the 2014-2015 academic year, the Middle School Director will take over the current position of Middle School Dean, assist in the recruitment of middle school students, and teach two classes as well as provide the vision, energy, and logistical supervision for the reinvigorated middle school of the future.

Required qualifications:

  • The energy and creativity to assist the current administration in making this dream a reality.
  • Ten years’ experience as a middle school teacher
  • Three years’ experience as a middle school administrator
  • A master’s degree or higher

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience starting or working in a middle school similar to the one outlined above
  • The ability to teach two sections of middle school science or middle school religion
  • Experience supporting innovative, 21st century education initiatives

English Teacher

Menaul School with its partner school in China is seeking a highly qualified English teacher to teach ESL and regular English courses in its innovative Dual Diploma Program in Weifang, Shangdon province, China.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Master Degree preferred) or above in English or English Literature
  • At least 2-years full-time ESL teaching experience to grade 6-12 students

  • Holder of TEFL/TESOL or any other internationally recognize teaching certificate
  • Responsible, well-organized, and patient
