Director Finance and Operations Employment Posting Spring 2012

The Director of Finance and Operations reports to the Head of School and is part of the Senior Leadership Team that meets weekly. Responsibilities include the following:


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To keep an accurate continuous record of the cash and financial position of the school and manage the financial operation of the school so that the institution remains financially stable.
• To supervise the work of the school accountant and business office personnel and use standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
• To prepare a monthly operating statement for the Head of School and the Board of Trustees.
• To provide a monthly report of expenditures for use of each individual budget center within the school.
• To establish a plan and schedule for the preparation of the annual budget that will permit the setting of the succeeding year's tuition at a Board of Trustees meeting early in the calendar year.
• To provide for the securing of an annual audit of the school's financial records and financial positions.
• To oversee all school purchasing, financial investments, banking activities, payroll and benefits program.
• To provide staff support, in conjunction with the Head of School, to the Finance Committee and the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees.
• To manage risk at the school to ensure the safety of personnel and students in their use of the facilities and to maintain appropriate levels of insurance to protect the property and to cover the liability of the school.
• To oversee facilities, maintenance, staff and school transportation.
• To ensure the effective management of the food-service operation and any other auxiliary enterprises of the school.
• To assist the Head of School with decisions regarding salaries and benefits for all personnel, including the evaluation of support staff. To represent the school at various regional, state, and national associations relative to the role of the Director of Finance and Operations.
• To perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s degree Master’s preferred
• Certified Public Accountant certificate preferred

POSITION STATUS: Full-time Administrative Employee; Exempt

WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time work schedule, which includes occasional evening and weekend hours

Academic Director Employment Posting Fall 2012

The Academic Director should be an experienced educator who meets the education and experience, job requirements and will perform the following duties and responsibilities.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Knowledge, skills and leadership to build an innovative curriculum that meets the needs of the 21st century diverse learners
• Responsible for the hiring, evaluation and professional development of faculty.
• Responsible for the scheduling of classes, enrolling students and maintaining accurate academic records for each student (registrar and transcripts), including academic planning toward graduation requirements.
• Coordinates and works with the Academic Department Chairs and Middle and Upper School Deans on developing academic program and maintaining records including curriculum and course descriptions.
• Develop and manage academic budget, including the planning for classroom resources (textbooks, eBooks, AV equipment, supplies, etc.)
• Knowledge and experience in the effective use of student information systems/databases.
• Communicate effectively with the faculty and other administrative team members.
• Coordinate and facilitate retention efforts .
• May also serve on the admission committee.


POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• Master’s Degree preferred with strong academic preparation.
• An open and accessible presence in the school with a genuine interest to communicate and interact effectively with students, faculty and staff, and parents.
• A dedication to advancing esprit de corps within a college-bound, independent school environment.
• Substantial experience in teaching and administration, preferably in an independent school setting with firsthand knowledge of admissions, academic advising, student comportment, college counseling, and the role of arts and athletics in a college preparatory school.
• Strong teaching experience as most administrators teach at Menaul School.
• Experience in supporting, and supervising faculty and staff.
• A proven track record of collaboration and teamwork.
• A compassionate disposition, with high moral standards.
• A passion to advance the spiritual roots and diversity of Menaul School.
• A leadership approach which embodies the school's mission: developing mind, body, and spirit in an atmosphere of love and understanding.

The Director of Academics reports to the Head of School and is a member of the Administrative Leadership Team.

Salary and benefits are competitive and commensurate with experience. Position available beginning July 1, 2012.
