Male Dorm Parent
Boarding/Residential Life – Menaul School

Menaul School, an independent, coeducational school for students in grades 6 – 12 with a mission to develop the minds, bodies, and spirits of its students, is seeking an energetic and creative individual to serve as our full time boys’ dorm parent.

Menaul’s residential life program is comprised of nearly 40 domestic and international students, split evenly between boys and girls.
Key Responsibilities:
* Acting in loco parentis and therefore responsible for all aspects of the residential welfare of students.
* Overseeing daily operations of the residential facility
* Monitoring and assisting with the academic progress of students
* Communicating with faculty/staff about students' academic progress
* Communicating residential issues to the Boarding Life Coordinator
* Helping supervise and coordinate evening and weekend activities
* Maintain communication with students through individual contacts, meetings, and discussions. 

* Serve as a mediator/facilitator when necessary to provide resolutions for interpersonal conflicts
* Enforcing the program's rules and policies
* Performing administrative tasks as necessary
* Assisting with school activities and events as necessary
* Managing Resident Assistants/Weekend relief
* Promoting the image of the residential program within the school and local community

Requirements:
* Minimum 3 years working with adolescents in leadership and mentorship capacity

* Experience planning activities and leading adolescent students on excursions
* Able to obtain New Mexico Driver's License
Desired Qualifications:
* Minimum 2 years working at a boarding school as a house parent or resident assistant
* Experience working with English as a Second Language students
* Knowledge of Albuquerque/New Mexico area
* CDL - with School Bus endorsement
The Dorm Parent position includes room & board. Dorm Parents live in their own residence within the residential facility and should be accessible to students when on duty.  Dorm Parents are expected to be on duty five nights a week with Relief Dorm Parents serving the other two nights. Dorm Parents report to the Boarding Life Coordinator.

Part-Time Upper School Mathematics Teacher 


Menaul School, an independent, coeducational school for students in grades 6 – 12 with a mission to develop the minds, bodies, and spirits of its students, is seeking an energetic, creative, and technologically savvy part-time upper school Math Teacher for the 2015-2016 school year.  Courses to be taught will depend upon availability and scheduling but most likely include some combination of Geometry, Algebra 2 and Statistics.

Requirements for the position include:
• A bachelor’s degree in Mathematics
• Two years teaching experience at the secondary level
• Experience with and a facility in digital technology
• A dedication to  cultivating the minds of adolescents
• The willingness and ability to work successfully with a wide range of students
• The willingness and ability to work with other school staff as a team

Preferred characteristics include:
• Specific facility and experience with the iPad
• A master’s degree in Mathematics or Education
• Experience teaching in an independent school
• Five years teaching experience

Features of the position include small class sizes (12 to 16), individualized instruction, broad teacher autonomy, and frequent dialogue with extremely supportive families.

Menaul School Teach-Intern Program

Menaul School is seeking recent college graduates or graduate students interested in working under supervision to develop the varied skills required of secondary boarding school teachers.

The Menaul School Teach-Intern Program offers as wide an exposure as possible to all aspects of life at Menaul School.  Interns will have the opportunity to participate in mission-critical projects at an urban, international boarding school in the Southwest while serving on the front lines as they participate in the unique and exciting work of fostering students from across the globe. 

The Intern’s responsibilities will include supervised teaching under the guidance of an experienced member of the faculty and assisting with or observation of other classes.  Interns also help coach athletics, assist in dormitory supervision and activities and participate in other areas of school life commensurate with their interests and talents.

Menaul School is a 6-12 independent, co-educational school whose mission is to prepare students to succeed in mind, body and spirit with historical connections to the Presbyterian Church. Menaul School operates an upper school and a middle school on a fully functional 30-acre campus near downtown Albuquerque, NM that includes classroom buildings, an auditorium, arts facilities, and gymnasiums. In addition, the school employs a dedicated and talented middle school teaching staff and is in the second year of an innovative iPad program.

Teach-Intern appointments are ten month (August to June) positions.  Interns receive a monthly stipend along with living quarters and meals in the school cafeteria.  Teaching areas open to interns are the Sciences, English, History, Religion & Mathematics.
